Meseret & Zeke 2022
Heading west from Hobson we took the highway to Belt and meandered our way steadily into the Highwood mountains.
The setting for Meseret and Zeke’s wedding was new to me and I was anxious to see the ranch that Zeke grew up on. I love when my couples decide to exchange their vows in a meaningful location, and this one did not disappoint. The 15 miles of gravel road that led us to the ranch revealed remarkable scenes. As we left the vast prairie and grasslands of the foothills and climbed farther into the mountains we were greeted with a bubbling creek, pines, and quaking aspens.
The Highwood Mountains are something to behold. As we neared Zeke’s family ranch, we encountered a small bunch of cattle being moved to the next pasture by Zeke’s neighbors down the road. As the cattle slowly meandered along I navigated the pickup through the sea of black hides to get ahead of them. I don’t want to be late for the wedding! It’s a normal occurrence to see such a sight and we like to call it a Montana traffic jam.
As we arrived at the Davison Ranch, the views were spectacular with mountains all around and the creek running through. I was not short of locations for photographs.
We knew we were up against some rain and were hopeful we could make it through the ceremony and keep the guests dry. The backdrop for the couple’s nuptials was stunning with mountains rising behind a beautiful arbor built of Quaking Aspen made by the best man and his father. On the opposite end was yet another mountain range that helped present the bride as she walked down the aisle!
And just as we were wrapping up the ceremony we could see the rain moving in quickly. We had enough time to grab a few photos and set out on the 30-minute drive via gravel roads to town for the reception at the Highwood Town Hall.
By the time we reached the reception the rain was pouring down with a little thunder and lightning to boot. Everyone celebrated the moisture while enjoying the taco bar, ground beef provided by Zeke’s family Ranch, cake and entertainment.
Meseret and Zeke are just starting out their life together but I can see that they have the foundation of two strong and supportive families behind them. Weathering the storms of life will be what brings them closer together because they have grown up rural and have a strong foundation in faith that will carry them through anything.
