Montana Fall Mountain Engagement Photoshoot | Brooke & Collin
This year the fall leaves were stunning in Montana. The Belt Mountains in Central Montana were no exception. Brooke and Collin opted for a remote location for their engagement shoot with mountains, pine trees, fall leaves, and a river. I love this location because it is mostly undiscovered by the public which makes it perfect for a private, intimate shoot. My couples can just be themselves and enjoy one another while exploring the mountains of Montana.
A NOTE ON THE FALL LEAVES
Fall in the mountains came a whole two weeks later than usual. I have been photographing for 10+ years and I have them pretty well predicted as the last week in September through the first week in October in Montana. This year I was shooting all the way to the end of October. This came as a bit of a surprise but recent drought and late rains with unseasonably warm weather made for unpredictable leaves. I have spent years driving around looking for where the best leaves are and at what point in the fall they come. I found a new fancy tool while shooting a wedding this year during the fall season in New York. It’s called the FALL FOLIAGE PREDICTION MAP. I wish I had looked this up sooner! I just wish they had an app with alerts!! Lol
EVERYTHING ALWAYS WORKS OUT FOR THE BEST!
We had been planning this fall engagement shoot for quite a while and we kept canceling because of weather or life. I think this was the third date we had picked and I have to say we really lucked out! You know I always believe that everything works out for the best and I always take that attitude into my scheduling as well! I hate to cancel a shoot but If I have to I usually suspect it because a better day is tight around the corner. In this case, we were so right! Montana’s fall mountain leaves couldn’t have been more stunning and the temperature was perfect for an engagement shoot! (Thank you, Montana)
We chose this location for this fall engagement shoot not only because of its beauty but also because of its privacy! These Mountains are fairly undiscovered and it gave Brooke and Collin a remote area to be themselves, let their hair down, and have fun! They also wanted to bring their energetic and adorable chocolate Lab Boone along for some photos as well. The mountains were a perfect fit to let him get his yay-yay’s out! Brooke and Collin showed up with so much enthusiasm and excitement and it was contagious! Brook was super excited about the pictures of course. Collin, because of his love of hunting, was just grateful we could be in the mountains. This was his stomping grounds and in fact, he knew a little more about the location than I did which was pretty fun!
