An all-day family shoot is a unique opportunity to capture the beauty of the day-to-day experience at your ranch while boosting your brand presence. For this day on the Anderson Ranch, we started with feeding the cows as the first activity for the family to do together. This not only kicks off the day’s tasks but also serves as an icebreaker for the family easing the nerves of being photographed. I’ve found that when there’s a job to be done, benign in front of the camera feels more natural.

To really tell the story of the day, we incorporated time spent together making and eating lunch. This adds authenticity to the story we’re telling through our images.

Throughout the day, our goal is to ensure that everyone feels involved and comfortable. By giving each family member a job, we minimize any self-consciousness about being photographed. Eventually, the camera fades into the background, allowing genuine moments to unfold naturally. The boys had some ideas of their own about how they wanted to be photographed and found it to be fun.

At the end of the day, we incorporated a little glamour shoot for the girls. It was fun to do something out of the ordinary because living on a ranch doesn’t always lend itself to a more glamorous side. 

In the end, this is more than just a photo shoot; it’s a collaborative experience that celebrates family, tradition, and the beauty of everyday life. These moments may seem ordinary, but they hold immense value in showcasing the authenticity of your lifestyle allowing your current and future clients a window into your world.
